Heard that on KRTH 101 this morning of all things. I can't believe Kim Amidon is gone from the Mark and Kim show. I was fortunate to get to go to a Breakfast With Mark and Kim event this year at the CBS Studios in LA.
I hope another station reunites Mark and Kim. Gary Bryan joked he would let her join his show. YUCK. Gary and Kim. Can't stand him.
Now, I'm no longer a KOST listener. Mark and Kim are a morning fixture in Los Angeles. When I think KOST, I think Mark and Kim, then Love Songs on the KOST. Breaking up Mark and Kim paves the way for other drastic changs at KOST, and I don't like that. Something tells me the future changes are for the worst mainly because it centers around money. Mark and Kim deserve everything they made- they were ratings powerhouses. I haven't been listening as religiously lately because of the holiday music. When it is 80 degrees outside, I just can't get in the mood for Christmas music. I can assure you that I will not be going back to KOST. I will be listening to KBIG/KOLA in the morning; KKGO (GoCountry) during the midday; KKGO, KFRG (only for traffic), KOLA, and KBIG in the afternoon, and when I am in the car at night it will be KRTH Nights with Christina Kelly.
Speaking of Mark and Kim, I loved their jokes. I loved how they would poke fun at each other. I felt like I knew them, even though I hadn't met them until this year. They seem so easy to get along with. They weren't overbearing like some personalities in the morning and they were just so friendly.
I'm going to go to Valentine and Irma on KBIG (even though they are owned by Clear Channel) in the mornings now. I will also listen to KOLA 99.9 for Brian Casey and the Wakeup Bunch because it is local and they are not owned by Clear Channel.

I'm saddened by the news as well...when a caller called in to play the "Know What You Know" game and said that the Morning Show would not be the same without Kim, I immediately thot why are they saying that about the assistant (thinking that was her name) and then when Mark said something about Kim A., I thot WHAT!!! I teared up and said out loud to myself "no way"...I probably will listen to KRTH or 102.7...I like to hear the funny conversations between all the radio dj and play the games as well...yeah, I think ClearSation difinitely made a HUGE mistake by letting Kim go...they could've made other $$ cuts in other areas...boohoo a sad listener
Hate to say but either one of them were sick or on vacation all the time maybe that might be the reason. Why pay for two when only one of them are there?
Mark and Kim devoted over 20 years developing a loyal listener base. It's sad that KOST management chose to reward the success Mark and Kim brought to their organization by releasing Kim. I think it is a huge mistake that will result in loss of listeners for KOST.
When I was driving to work and heard Mark talk about the changes at KOST and that Kim text messaged him "they let me go" . . . I felt as though I had been punched in the stomach! Mark and Kim were the one constant in radio's ever changing programming format. Then, in today's L.A.Times, it states that KOST will be getting another morning host to work with Mark after the beginning of the new year. Are they crazy???? As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke . . . don't fix it!" Then, to top it off, Clear Channel also fired Mike Sakellarides (who had been with KOST for 25 years) and air traffic reporter Mike Nolan (who had been with them almost 22 years!) I love you Mark, but I'm never going to listen to KOST again and I suggest that it's formerly loyal listeners do the same! KKGO is for me!!
I guess I hadn't listoned to kost for about a week on 12/6 I called the station to ask what happened to Kim - Boy, did I get the run around from the people I was transfered to. I called three times to be finally told - it was all Clear Channel budget cuts. Then I called Clear Channel's corporate office - They told me it was up to the Station manager to manage his channel on the day to day operations. I then sent a email to the station with the "subject" of WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? and gave them my two cents on what I thought - I was hoping Kim had a email address that we could let her know how we feel -
you just lost another KOST listener. Today, I removed KOST in my pre-programmed radio stations both in my car and at home. I will never listen to your station...KOST! It's not the same without KIM. Letting her go was a big mistake.
I miss her, too. Somehow, my mornings aren't the same anymore!

What is Clear Channel thinking? As everyone said, I love Mark Wallengren, but the show is NOT the same without Kim. And it's not Mark's fault. Those two are GREAT together, and go together like milk and cookies. I'm still hoping for a miracle.

I have deleted KOST from my pre-sets today. I like Mark, but the show is not the same without the 2 of them. Its Lucy without Ethel. I would love to see Mark and Kim re-unite on satellite radio. Kost is probably going to let Mark go as well soon- But I'm sure he is preparing for that.

I too have been a morning listner for the full 22 years. I tried to listen to Mark this morning, and Its just not the same. Kim was not as good as Mark & Kim, and Mark is not as good as Mark&KIm. Sorry Mark but Clear channel messed this format up ROYALLY
I too am very upset that Kim is gone..I kept hearing about Mark returning on January 2 or 3rd but wondered where Kim was..I use to listen to the "Mark & Kim" show every morning while I ran 5 miles on the treadmill but no more...

I hope Kost 103 moves to a new location either in Long Beach California or Torrance California and have Kim reuinte with Mark and call the morning show good day show with Mark & Kim Show. Mon. through Fri. from 6-12 p.m. and have the kost 103 take all Kost listeners go to different theme parks with Mark & Kim during the Summer as well as during the Winter with Mark & Kim as well as Mark & Kim's children and have the listeners join Mark & Kim for breakfast at the new Kost Cafe at the new location with different artists like James Blunt, Rod Stewart, Dr. Phil etc. I miss Kim Amidon they should have her where she belongs to her home Kosdty 103 that is her home studio bring her back where she belongs. my name is Elderly frog Lady
I worked with Kim in 1983-4 @KGFJ/KUTE radio. Kim is a wonderful person, compassionate, caring and just down to earth REAL in a business that sometimes operates in the “gray” of things. Believe me, she will land on her feet! Sometimes radio is governed by “personalities” and I don’t mean “air personalities”…and most assuredly it is governed sometimes by “couch practices”. Kim will be an asset where ever she goes. “Ole” jocks never die…they just end up somewhere else with the competition. Kim…you go girl!! Will be prayin’ for you, God bless you sweety…I believe in you. I just came from being out of State and was totally shocked that Kim Amidon is no longer at KOST 103.5! I am now a listener of another radio station. Is it any clearer than this how I feel?

I have been a listener for 20 years and I am SO DISAPPOINTED in the decision for this "corporate change" of "firing" valuable employees who have contributed so much to the success of KOST 103.5 and then are thrown away for WHAT???? Younger, less expensive and better? I DOUBT THAT VERY MUCH! I WILL NOT LISTEN TO KOST 103.5 ANY MORE!!!! I feel as if my world has been ripped from me and then given back to me with these changes that I ABSOLUTEY DO NOT AGREE WITH AND DO NO LIKE!!! Life/Work is hard enough and one of the only comforts was to get in my car and listen to 103.5 and hear the people that were a part of my family. My daughter who is now 15 even new "my station." While . . . not any more as they have disappointed me by following in the foot steps of typical corporte America!!!!!! Use them and then throw them away!!!!

Hi it's Mark. I've been following much of what has been written and I feel compelled to comment.
I've talked with Kim several times about putting another show together and she told me she doesn't want to work in radio again. I hope that's not true. She has said that she'll listen to any offers.
Anyone know about playing office politics? Well for a long time Kim has expressed on the air and in the halls that she wanted to do something else. I think maybe one too many times. I do know that the company had to make painful financial decisions that affected many here at our station both on and off the air. I guess, knowing Kim's feelings, they felt the time was right and opted not to renew her contract in 2008. She did receive severance pay that insures that she won't have to work for years if she chooses. Kim wants to become a writer. She has an agent and is pursuing that field.
I have told Kim that many people want to catch up with her. Her daughter Bevy is supposed to be putting up a Myspace.com page for her. When that happens I will post that address on my blog! If I can't convince Kim then I'm going to have to go out there and find that perfect partner again.
It was an amazing 22 years and I will always have wonderful memories of the people we've met and fantastic things we were able to do while on the air. It's always been such a blessing to work here and if at some point I am asked to leave I will be forever grateful for the time I was allowed be on the air and reach out to wonderful people like you.
In the meantime I hope you'll continue to listen. I'm planning on a fantastic future here at Coast 103!
I have been listening to the show since the departure of Kim Amidon and Mike Nolan. And, after much thought, I have come to realize that I am most comfortable when I can enjoy the blessings of life with my family. In that respect two things became perfectly clear; I had come to know Mark, Kim, and Mike, as family. Like some families that split up, it becomes sad and difficult to hang out with only one of the people without missing the other. This is the case with this situation. I miss Kim and Mike, and to listen to Mark, alone, is sad. As such, I will no longer be listening to KOST. To ClearChannel: you really screwed up!!!

o my gosh! its so hard 2 believe that kim is gone! being a former listener to kost, i enjoyed listening to mark and kim in the morning. now it makes no sense that kim is not there! i dont listen to kost any longer. i dont know wat kost was tryin 2 do by gettin rid of kim and 2 other people. but i will tell u one thing... now that kims gone i either stick 2 my ipod or listen 2 myfm 104.3.

I have listened to Mark and Kim since I was pregnant with my youngest daughter (now 23!). I miss Kim. I did worry at times when there were times of only one of them were on the show. For a period it seemed that they were seldom on at the same time and I really became frustrated with that. Now, that it is a permanent situation, I am saddened. It has taken away a big part of my morning life!
I have listened to Mark and Kim since they began with KOST - what a team. They started my morning off on the right foot and put a smile on my face. KOST is programmed on every radio I own as well as in my car. I cannot believe they are no longer a team and pray that BOTH of them will come through this okay. I miss them with all my heart and hope that by some miracle the situation will be changed. Whatever happened to customer satisfaction? I hope you are listening to your customers!!

Well, it has taken me this long to comment on the stupidest decision on radio since its cretion (with the exception of the War of the Worlds stupidity of the 40's or whenever it was). Where is Kim?? It is not the same. Love the music and Mark but I just can't listen anymoe. I have given it several months thinking it would get better. Sorry Stella. It's just not the same. I'm done. Where is Kim?? We miss her. She put a smile on our faces as we headed off to work.
It doesn't surprise me at all that Kim was let go. I won't listen to that station because Mark is ALWAYS talking smack about women.Just listen and you will see what I mean. (By the way, don't they call themselves "the show with less talk"? - what a joke). Every time a derogatory comment is made, it is about women - do you ever hear him taking shots at men? I am disgusted with him and all of America that supports woman-haters.
I have tried a couple of times to listen to the morning show - but it misses the mark now Kim has gone. I drive a long way to work and it was my shot in the arm and

I used to be a listener to kost 103.5 for over 15 years...I always thought that Mark & Kim in the morning is the best talk show!...but not any more!...if Mark had respect for himself and her, he should of quit and they would of been picked up by other Radio Stations!...
Although I was upset about Kim being let go, I am still a fan of Mark's. I admit I haven't listened to the show as often, but I check in now and then. Has anyone heard the woman that was on the show today? I think her name is Kristen Cruz. It sounds like she is doing the show with Mark. I've heard stella and Klaudia on the show before but they just add a few things now and then. This woman sounds like she is actually doing the show as a partner. I haven't listened the last few days. Did they announce a new host? Mark just said she is in there with him but didn't say anything about her being officially on the show. She is very different then Kim, but I think she is pretty funny. They mentioned she is pregnant. I think the show is so much better with a man and a woman on it. Mark is great but Kim is definitly missed. I hope this Kristen woman keeps doing the show. I might actually listen a little more again because it makes it more fun. They said she will be back tomorrow. I'm gonna listen tomorrow and see if she's there. I tuned into Kost in my car on the way to work. I don't wake up with Coast anymore. Without Kim it isn't a good show. She made me laugh. My mornings are not the same without Kim. I have to say this Cruz gal is going to have a hard time because if there were budget cuts why did they bring someone else on? It just makes people mad that Kim is gone and it brings all the memories back when she was let go. It just doesn't make sense.
I'm curious to know where Kirsten Cruz came from....she seems familiar to others on the show but I've never heard of her....She has a nice radio voice. I just don't know who she really is....Does anyone else know?

Well, I've had some time to listen and I really like this Kristen Cruz woman. She makes the show fun again. I like the way she laughs, it makes me smile. I also like the way her and Mark work together. Mark really has the chance to be funnier when he has someone else in the conversation.
Like everyone else, I also liked Kim. However, I know that Kim is not coming back. I do wonder why everyone thinks Kim was fired because of budget issues. The only person that has actually said it was due to budget issues was Kim. I read that she wasn't happy and wanted to do something else. Mark even said that in his blog.
All I know is that I want to enjoy the show again. I like the new girl, kim isn't coming back and KOST plays the music I like.

I agree with you guys. I think everyone misses Kim, but who are we kidding, she isn't coming back. I hate when good things come to an end. I still think Mark is awesome. I think the new woman Kristen is fun. She's totally different then Kim but I think she's funny and she sounds so sweet. Does anyone know if she is going to always be on the show? They still kind of act like its only the Mark show but then they act like she will be at all of the events. Sometimes they say the morning show with mark and Kristen. They also said that she is pregnant. Does that mean that she will be off the show when she has her baby? I hope not. I really like her and want her to be on the show for a long time. There was obviously more to it at the time than budget cuts, but we will never know. And if it was budget cuts, they realized that as great as Mark is, he can't go it alone and perhaps Kim wouldn't come back and they hired this girl. Personally her voice grates on me and I turn the show off after only a few minutes. Mark and Brian have my loyalty now. I agree that Mark should have left with Kim. They would have been picked up, the dynamic between the two was unmatchable. Too bad ClearStation made such a bad choice. I am not going back to KOST for more than a few minutes while K-Earth is running a commerical. Sad that a Los Angeles tradition has come to an end.
True, the show will never the be same without Kim. Yes, the "Mark & Kim Show" was a staple in the LA area. I don't agree with the change either. The world changes constantly. We all change. It takes getting used to. We in the LA radio area have so many choices. I only listen mostly for the music. I must say, however, "Waking up with the Beatles" is nice, but it doesn't make sense to me. KOST is for easy listening music. Since when are the Beatles easy listening? The demographics must have changed for this station to include this feature at 7:30 every morning. Oh well. There's that changing thing again. The new gal, Kristin, I think her name is, is quite a match, maybe ClearChannel has realized the impact of KOST's morning show??? Just want to thank Mark, too, for setting us listeners straight on Kim's choices for her career! I'll keep listening because I not only like the music, but appreciate the effort Mark has put forth in making the show last even longer!

Kim also has said through interviews that she was burnt out on radio. That she didn't have the pleasure she once did while working in radio.
I wish her good luck...but if she was burnt out and doesn't want to job, then I hope she enjoys her retirement. I too love the new show and think the station found a good replacement.
I never knew that mark had posted a comment. I listened today and thought the show sounded good. I personally like the sound of the new gals voice. Today was the first time I have listened in a looooooonnnnng time. Does anyone know where she comes from? It seems like a nice match.

I haven't been listening for awhile due to personal circumstances. But when I started listening again I was shocked and saddened to find out that Kim had been fired. What is Clear Channel thinking? This is not moving forward, this is a complete blunder. Mark and Kim belong together and should have stayed that way. Goodbye, KOST. You're deleted from my preset radio stations.
If you're just figuring it out now that kim is gone, I'm pretty sure you deleting KOST from your preset isn't gonna have the zing to it that you might be hoping for. The show is pretty good still.
Mark's new partner on the morning show, Kristin Cruz finally had her baby!!!! You can see pictures of the baby on the KOST web site on Mark's blog. She is so cute. Good luck Kristin, I hope you and the baby are doing well. I also hope to hear you back on the show soon.

I was going to hang in there with Mark at KOST 103 until they brought in, and as of today, hired Kristen. I can't stand listening to her and all the mistakes she makes. She is just too full of herself and "Fireman Matt". Big deal, her husbands a fireman. I respect fireman a lot but who cares that she's married to one. It was disgusting listening to her when she was pregnant. Thank God she had the baby. You'd have thought she was the only woman to ever give birth. I'm done with KOST now.
I'm so happy that KOST decided to finally hire Kristin full time. I hope the new show is on for 20 more years. Kim of course will always be missed, but the new show sounds great!

When I Found out Kim was gone I was shocked, I stopped listening to Kost. and today I decided to Listen to Mark and Kristen, I'm sorry I have to say it's not the same..Sorry Kost you lost me!
I know it's been almost a year... but this whole axe falling (non-renewal) still bugs me. The new girl, Kristin, she's okay (I suppose). Sometimes I get annoyed with he constant shout-outs to her husband, the firefighter... Sadly, whenever I listen to the show now, I still have "hope" to hear Kim Amidon back on the show. It's just not the same.
I still hope one day, it'll be like hearing Ted Ziegenbusch upon his return to KOST. To me, that would be a happier ending/beginning. (I thought to myself, "Yay! Ted ditched 'The Fish'!"
So I'll wait patiently for Kim to ditch "...the Pasture..." (as quoted from her MySpace page). that would be my Happy Ending.
Kim is definitely missed! I keep tuning in to listen hoping that I will feel comfortable again and I'm sorry, Kristen just isn't working for me. I feel I've given KOST a fair chance and now it's time to change the dial. Sorry KOST. Big mistake.

I grew up listening to them. I admit that when Kristin first started I didn't really like the show. I do want to share with you that I had a chance to go and see Rodrigo this weekend at an appearence in Arcadia. When I was down there, to my surprise, Mark and Kristin SHOWED UP!!! I had a chance to talk to Kristin and get to know her and her family(Matt and Izzy). She was sooooo nice and down to earth. Her, Mark and Rodrigo really seem to like each other. The Mark and Kristin show now have a fan forever! I know that not everyone will have a chance like I did to meet them. I just wanted to share this with those who might be reading this blog.

Kim's soothing and warm voice in the morning combined with Mark's upbeat voice was just such a unique combination. I hope Kim enjoys her retirement and be successful in her career pursuit. I can't listen to Kristin's voice. So sorry Mark.
